Intimate Hygiene Gels and Cream-Gels

Sort:
View:

An intimate hygiene gel is a liquid cleanser for the external intimate area with an acidic pH and mild cleansing agents. This category features the LUNÉVA Velvet Intimate Veil cream-gel (350 ml): a light gel texture with no stickiness, pH 4.2-4.8, free of SLS, SLES, parabens, silicones and mineral oils.

Gel or cream-gel: what is the difference

A gel is usually clear, foams well and rinses off quickly. A cream-gel has a softer, creamier base: the lather is calmer and skin feels less tight after washing. Velvet Intimate Veil combines both ideas: a cream-gel with a light gel texture that cleanses gently and leaves no sticky film.

What the Velvet Intimate Veil label lists

  • Lactic acid helps maintain the physiological pH of the area.
  • Inulin, according to the brand, supports the natural balance of the microflora.
  • Panthenol and betaine are there for skin comfort and softness.
  • Sodium hyaluronate helps retain moisture.
  • Mild surfactants (disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate, sodium cocoyl isethionate) instead of SLS and SLES.

The formula is fragranced (Parfum), so if your skin is very sensitive, start with a patch test.

How to use the gel

  1. Dispense a small amount onto a wet palm.
  2. Apply to the external intimate area with light motions, without rubbing.
  3. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a soft, clean towel.

Use it once or twice a day in the shower. It is for external use only.

Fitting the gel into a daily routine

An intimate gel is just one step in the shower. Cleanse the rest of the body with a separate product, for example Silk Touch shower cream, and moisturize body skin afterwards. Do not use the intimate gel on the face or hair: it has a different purpose and pH.

Who it is not for

If you cannot tolerate fragranced products, look for fragrance-free alternatives. The gel does not treat infections or inflammation: for itching, burning or unusual discharge, see a gynecologist. For general guidance on choosing, see intimate hygiene, and for the rest of the body, body care.
